Search Task Force

The General Board shall have a Search Task Force when a vacancy on the ministerial staff shall cause the moderator to appoint and commission a task force for the purpose of recommending to the General Board, a candidate for filling the vacancy.

The moderator shall appoint a Search Task Force leader and six other members (all members of the congregation) for approval by the General Board.

The Search Task Force shall consult with the regional office ofthe Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), evaluate the qualifications of all candidates and recommend only one candidate at a time to the General Board for its consideration.

If the candidate is approved by the General Board, the General Board shall recommend to the
congregation, that the ministerial candidates be called to serve the congregation.

Ministerial candidates shall receive at least a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the congregation members present and voting in a regular or special business meeting of the church before a call may be extended.

The Search Task Force shall consult with the Human Resources Department when negotiating the terms and conditions of employment for calling a minister to an indefinite period of employment.
