Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry serving 10,000 in '10!

Approximately 60% of children attending Raytown schools get assistance from the free/reduced lunch program at their school. During the summer, these students are often without the nutrition they need. But we can help! Five churches worked together last summer to deliver lunches to 6 sites with an anticipated count of 170 lunches a day. The Spirit of God is at work directing this project. There is no other way that this program could grow from 1900 meals served in 2008 to over 6000 meals served in 2009!

This summer, the program will be expanded with a goal of serving 10,000 lunches. The number of delivery sites will increase to nine, bringing our lunch count to 330 lunches each day. Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry is ready to deliver lunches from July 5 through August 13, Monday through Friday.

Raytown Christian, Southwood United Church of Christ, Blue Ridge Presbyterian, Raytown Vineyard Church and the River Fellowship will all be delivery partners and supply money, supplies and volunteers. You and your church or organization can be a part of serving 10,000 lunches to hungry kids this summer. To find out how you can participate, call 353-1708.
