Bible Basics

Many of us have heard Bible stories throughout our lives but have never put them together to understand the whole, overarching Story told in the Bible. This class is an opportunity for new students of the Bible to get an introduction to the Bible, and an opportunity for veteran Bible students to find new connections in what they already know. Rev. Joe Weaks will lead us in discovering the 5 main themes of the Bible, and how we can understand the Bible more by learning them.

Discovering God’s Way of Handling Money

The Role of a Prophet

Did you know that the Bible contains a blueprint for managing your finances?
In this video-led class, we will learn the very practical things the
Bible teaches about getting out of debt, managing income, saving, and
giving money. We will also discover the profound impact God can have
on our relationship with money, and the impact money can have on our
relationship with God. Rev. Dawn Weaks will facilitate discussion.
Our sermons during October will come from the book of Habbakuk, a
Jewish prophet with powerful words that challenge us even now. This
study will lead us deeper in understanding what a prophet’s role is in the
Bible, and who God’s prophets are today. Rabbi Jacques Cukierkorn,
from the New Reform Temple in Kansas City, will co-lead our study with
Rev. Joe Weaks.

Cooking with Jesus

The Practice of Gratitude

Remember when Jesus cooked breakfast for the disciples at the end of
John’s gospel? This cooking class will teach you how to make nutritious
meals on a limited budget, AND how to cook with an awareness of Christ’s
presence with you. Bring your apron and $5 to each class so you can take
home samples!
Have you heard of the Gratitude Revolution? Gratitude is a decision before
it is a desire. Each class will explore biblical ways of expressing gratitude
to God and others. We will do hands-on gratitude exercises in each
class that will translate into more gratitude in each moment of our daily
lives. Rev. Dawn Weaks will lead us.
