Child and Youth Ministries

Sunday
 9:15 am - 12:15pm Nursery care is provided for those from birth through 4 years old during the 9:30 and 11:00 services and the Sunday School hour (10:30 - 11:15). The nursery is located on the second floor of the education wing.
 9:30 am
 Children's Worship (3 years old through 2nd grade)
This class is intended to help our children explore, learn, and practice some of the basics of worship, and spiritual disciplines. Children meet in the sanctuary for the first part of worship at 9:30, before leaving to begin their time in the Chapel. Parents may bring their children to the front of the sanctuary at the start of worship or children may sit with their families until dismissal following the Lord's Prayer.
 10:30 am
 Sunday School classes for 3-year-olds though 12th grade begins following the 9:30 service. Children's Worship children go directly from Children's Worship to Sunday School and those in grades 3 through 12 start as soon as worship is finished!
  3 years - Pre K: There is a Sunday School class for our youngest children which focuses on learning basic Bible stories, songs, and lessons to help start them on their journey of faith.
  K - 2nd grade: This class is for early elementary students and seeks to build a strong foundation of Bible knowledge and essential practices of the faith.
  3rd - 5th grades: This class for upper elementary students helps them to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith and prepare them for the next level of faith development and commitment.
  6th - 8th grades (Junior High): This class bridges the learning of Bible lessons and the application to personal life. This class is the first to present the gospel message in direct relationship to daily living scenarios.
  9th - 12th grades (High School): This class seeks to instill the foundation and necessary tools for students to develop a lifelong relationship with God and an intentional and cohesive understanding of their Christian beliefs. This class helps to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities found in church life as adults.
 4:30 - 6:00 pm Inspirations Ringers is an advanced youth bell choir. They meet in the Bell Room, upstairs in the education wing.
 6:00 -8:00 pm
 CYF (grades 9-12) and Chi Rho (grades 6-8) Youth Groups
Youth group is a special time for our youth to worship, fellowship,
study and serve with other Christian youth and mentoring adults. This is
an important part of the overall youth ministry offerings at RCC.
Unlike Sunday School or music groups, this time allows for a more
flexible and diverse exposure to important issues and questions facing
today's young people. Youth groups meet in the Youth Lounge.
   
Wednesday
 5:00 - 5:45 pm
 Royal Ringers is a youth/children's handbell choir.They work to develop their music reading and ringing skills and lead worship occasionally. 
 5:30 pm
 Family Friendly Meal in Fellowship Hall
 6:00 - 7:00 pm
 Inspirations Youth Choir (6th - 12th graders) will be singing two-, three-, and four-part music and lead worship for the 8:15 and 9:30 am services regularly. Occasionally the Inspirations combine with the Chancel Choir on special Sundays of the church year. In June they will sing on the 41st annual youth tour. This choir has a fine tradition to uphold.
 6:00 - 7:00 pm
 God's Kids, 3 years through 2nd grade, meet in the Youth Lounge. God's Kids use crafts, lessons, and singing to learn more about the Bible stories and practice leading congregational worship. God's Kids sing in worship frequently and participate in service opportunities throughout the year.

JYF/Jr. Choir meets in the Choir Room. This time will be a chance for our children to build community, engage in service, and deepen their relationships with God. Our JYF and Jr. Choir meet as part of the same time each week.

This year the Junior Choir will participate in the Greater Kansas City Children's Choir Festival in February, led by the premier children's choir director in the country.
